24 Sep Wonderful afternoon at the sauna for health and relaxation benefits
‘Now come on!!’ says Sol. hehe, , , they say it in such a sweet and wonderful way. It always lifts my spirits… hehe. . . We went to have a sauna and spa this afternoon. . . It feels like it certainly did some good!
I may have stayed in a little long, or perhaps I should not have done the cold shower thing in between, because my body does feel like it has been stressed right now. . . Early days! I read earlier that regular saunas (more than 3 – 4 times a week) can have wonderful health benefits including lower risk of cardiovascular disease and dementia!
‘Get involved!’
Health benefits of saunas
The benefits come from the increase in heart rate and the dilation of blood vessels. . . It is comparable in health benefits to a workout! So, that might be something that can be done if you know you want to exercise, but can’t exercise for some reason. . . maybe a sauna would do its good work, and leave your heart and brain in better shape than before.
There are benefits for your skin too.
Be careful!!
Please drink at least 2 – 3 cups of water after leaving the sauna, as there is a risk of dehydration (resulting in some nasty, nasty outcomes), and refrain from drinking beforehand. . . (I feel like I want to abstain from alcohol this evening as well – as the people who died after a sauna in Sweden had consumed alcohol.
Also, be careful if you have high or low blood pressure or if you are pregnant. In fact, please check the warnings for yourself online. I am not going to list them all here.
