23 Jun Two Birds Cafe Collingwood
Do you have one of those cafes in your neighbourhood that you can rely on to be consistently delicious and enjoyable? My favourite cafe in Collingwood is the Two Birds cafe on Peel Street. It is a bit of a walk for me (but all the better), but it is the kind of place that I take friends to when they are visiting from out of town. Excellent coffee and the most SCRUMPTIOUS food.
Today, I was delighted to find that amongst all the regular dishes on the Two Birds menu was something I hadn’t seen before. It was a Moroccan Chicken Salad. I was so excited. I was craving salad last night in Carlton, and although I went with Japanese, it was an easy decision to order it today.
When this dish was served to my table, I reflected again on my wish that we could ‘record’ smells somehow. I wish I could have taken an olfactory ‘photograph’ of the smell of this Moroccan Chicken salad. It smelt divine. The spices and the scent of the chicken were mouth-watering.
It was such a delightful meal. The avocado mixed in with the leaves was ripe to perfection, and the nutrients felt so great. Good fats from the avocado, leafy greens from the salad and protein from the spicy chicken. What is not to like?
Taste sensation
It was the spice on the chicken and the dressing on the leaves that was so incredibly delicious though. As well as my favourite slivers of red onion and cherry tomatoes, I seem to recall.
I was definitely in heaven. It is normal for Two Birds. I have had so many delicious meals at this cafe. It is the best in Collingwood as far as I know!
If you ever visit there, I would recommend the Kaffir crumbed eggs or the Morning Glory as an entree into their world. My friend also said that the Seasonal Mushrooms was also excellent.
There is a beautiful NEW sunshiny park just next door that I sat and drank a coffee after I ate my meal. They have several seats outside and they all catch the sun if it is out.
It was just a delightful experience from start to finish. Highly recommended.
