Are you aware of the benefits of good fats such as omega-3 fatty acids and unsaturated fats such as avocado, nuts and olive oil?
One excellent way to get omega-3 fatty acids is by eating seaweed. This food source is the original source of omega-3 fatty acids in fish products. In this era of microplastics and antibiotics in the fish industry, seaweed is a clever choice. It is a complete protein with all 12 of the essential amino acids.
The only problem is – what to do with it (and how to find it!)
Seaweed slaw
A couple of years ago I went on a big hunt for seaweed recipes. I could not find a great many that translated into tasty meals, but this week I came across a seaweed salad recipe that looked (and was) delicious.
It was easy to throw together, and it was very tasty. I ate it with some chicken dumplings that I had in my freezer, however it could also be nice with a piece of baked fish, or baked tofu.
The serving of this salad is quite small. It makes four side servings, but it lasts up to four days covered in refrigerator, so I think next time I will double the proportions to make four main servings of this delicious seaweed slaw.
It makes sense that a slaw would work with seaweed and now that I have found a template that works, I am wondering how I could experiment with some other ingredients in this basic pattern.
